Interview with Niamh Collins - Dublin Ladies Footballer
With the return of the Gaelic games season eagerly anticipated next month, four-time All-Ireland winner and Dublin LGFA full-back Niamh Collins is put through her paces by the Shuul Colours team. As always, the questions range from the sane to the insane!
Find out who Niamh enjoys following on social media; who she’d trust to rescue her from a burning building; and does she think Mrs. Doubtfire was right or wrong to do what she did?
In addition to four All-Ireland medals, the celebrated 28-year-old Foxrock/Cabinteely defender, who made her debut for Dublin against Kerry in 2012, also boasts a National League medal and an All-Star.
She acknowledges she can’t wait for the competitive action to resume in May, when Dublin will meet Tipperary, Waterford and great rivals Cork in the group stages of the National League.
“Obviously, against our old rivals, Cork, we are going to have a big battle there,” says the data analyst. “It is just exciting to have a group, you’re just happy to be back! You are trying to keep fit (at the moment) because you know something important is coming up and, at the end of the day, you signed up to play football, not lift weights in your front room.
“So, it has been a tough couple of months; it is very difficult when you are on your own in that aspect. So, I am just looking forward to being with my team again. That is the most thing I’m really excited for,” she concludes.
