Cavan Camogie Star Erinn Galligan on Favourite One-Liners & Supporting Beef Farmers!

Interview with Erinn Galligan - Cavan Camogie

After almost a decade in hibernation, Cavan camogie, led by captain Erinn Galligan, returned to the inter-county scene in 2020. In what was one of the fairy-tale sports stories of the year, Jimmy Greville’s charges won the Nancy Murray Cup, defeating Tyrone in the final.

They subsequently advanced to the Premier All-Ireland Junior Final following an impressive 2-16 to 1-6 victory over Roscommon. While they lost the decider to Armagh, it was a remarkable journey for Cavan camogie and their captain.

In addition to the Nancy Murray Cup triumph, Erinn – also a noted ladies footballer who has enjoyed success with Cavan LGFA and Lacken – was to the fore in aiding her camogie club Crosserlough to the five-in-a-row of county titles last year, having previously won a brace of Ulster titles with the club as well.

This week, Shuul Colours caught up with the 33-year-old pharmacist as she shared her thoughts on a myriad of topics, from Van Halen to Shepherd’s Pie!

If you could have a ‘walk on’ song, like in the darts, what would it be?

Van Halen - Jump

Who would win an arm wrestling competition on your team?

I'd say Lorna Cahill; she has lovely arms!

If you could be a fully paid professional in any other sport, what would you choose and why?

Basketball - I just finished watching the last dance series on netflix, then again golf might be easier on the aul limbs.

Favourite and least favourite part of training?

My favourite is that feeling of completing a tough session with all your teammates and friends by your side.
My least favourite is warming up; it takes a while to get going these days!

Shepherd’s Pie or Pasta Carbonaro?

Shepherd's pie....support the beef farmers around me :)

What is an interesting fact about you that’s not commonly known?

It would take a mortgage to feed me.

You step outside and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning €10 million. What would you do?

After looking after family and sorting a house and all that adult stuff then I'd pack a bag and blow the lot on travelling the world.

If I was a celebrity, I’d be (and why):

Katie Taylor; she's talented , committed and humble. My self-defence would be top notch too.

Favourite book?

I can't lie, I never read.

Favourite one-liner joke or saying?

When you're out, you' re out.
A problem shared is a problem halved.

Most embarrassing experience?

Missing a few 13 yard frees in my time. Also known to have shouted for my local club Crosserlough when playing for Lacken football.

If you could visit only one other county in Ireland for the next five years, which would it be and why?

Kerry for the scenery, their love of the GAA and the crack in Killarney.

Thanks a mil to Erinn for taking the time to chat with us and Shuul Colours wish her every success in the future.
